The Indian Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRI) has invited suggestions for changing the country's mobile phone number to 11 digits instead of the current 10. With the growing population, it is suggested to adopt these alternatives in view of the need to deal with the demand for telecom connections. TRAI has issued a discussion paper on the topic, 'Integrated Marks Scheme Development'. The plan is for mobile and landline lines. Let's know the reason for bringing an 11 digit mobile number.
- Tri's Discussion Letter states that if we believe that wireless phones in India will reach 200% by 2050 (i.e., each person has an average of two. If there is a mobile connection), the number of active mobile phones in this country reaches 3.28 billion. Will go Currently, there are 1.2 billion phone connections in the country.
- Trai estimates that if 70 percent of the digits are used, then by that time the number of mobile phones in the country will need 4.68 billion. The 13-digit number series for mutual Internet connectivity / Internet of Things among government machines has already begun.
- 10 digit mobile numbers starting at 9, 8 and 7 can provide only 2.1 billion connection connections. That way, an 11-digit mobile number will be needed for next time.
- A number of schemes have been reviewed in India in 1993 and 2003. The 2003 numbering plan created space for 750 million phone connections, of which 450 million were cellular and 300 million were basic and landline phones.
- That being said, not only can mobile phone numbers be updated, but fixed line numbers can also be updated to 10-digit numbers.
