JioFiber Wi-Fi router only offering 50Mbps Internet speed: Here's how to get full 100Mbps Wi-Fi speed

JioFiber routers are equipped to deliver only 50Mbps speed and subscribers need to upgrade to dual-band Wi-Fi routers for getting full 100Mbps speeds.

Earlier this month, JioFiber prices were officially announced on all plans and there is debate over whether they are cheaper than any other broadband service on the market. However, what impressed many potential buyers was that Jio promised to offer a minimum network speed of 100Mbps, which, given the low speeds for most similar prices, is a significant move for its competitors. However, Jio's claims were not explicitly delivered and there is a catch at 100 Mbps speed.

New JioFiber attachments are still to be installed after the pricing announcement but those who have registered for the preview offer are enjoying the new services. Prior to launch, Jio was offering this service for free but was charged Rs 4,500 as a security deposit for a dual-band Wi-Fi router. Later, the security deposit of Jio was reduced to Rs.2,500. But only a single-band Wi-Fi router started offering. And those subscribers who have received a preview offer at a lower price are now getting half the promise they had promised.

According to a report, those subscribers to JioFiber who are using the service with a single-band router are only getting 50Mbps speed. That's half of what Jio promised. However, it is said that Jio still offers 100 Mbps speed if subscribers access through Ethernet cable.

Therefore, if you connect a JioFiber connection to a laptop or PC with Ethernet, you will only be able to get the full speed of 100 Mbps. If you're accessing the Internet through a Wi-Fi router, the speed will be throttling below 50 Mbps. That's a 50 percent reduction in network speed.

However, JioFiber employees say the lower Wi-Fi speed is due to a single-band router that was provided as part of the package. The single-band router only supports 2.5GHz bandwidth, which is quite slow. It is said that if the customer goes for a dual-band router with support for both 2.5GHz and 5GHz bandwidth, the Wi-Fi speed will go up to 100 Mbps. So, to get the full 100 Mbps speed, you have to buy a new Wi-Fi router to get the full speed.

It is not yet known whether Jio will continue to provide a single-band router when pricing will begin the installation of new connections after the announcement. If not, then JioFiber customers will have to buy a dual-band router to enjoy full internet speed....
